Facilitator: Tom Davis — has a Caltech BS and a Stanford PhD, both in mathematics plus two years as a post-doc in the Stanford electrical engineering department. He was a founder and principal scientist at Silicon Graphics for 16 years. For the past 20 years he has been busy coaching middle- and high-school students and middle-school teachers to apply problem solving techniques in mathematics. He has also written a number of game-like computer programs for students to explore topics like Euclidean geometry, group theory and surreal numbers.

Topic: “Fractions and Decimals”  We’ll work some interesting — and cool — puzzles on the topic.  This session will be very useful for middle school teachers.
