Session leader: Hidefumi Katsuura
Session topic: Presentation on the basics of vectors that many of you already know from calculus, but from a point of view that many elementary textbooks do not deal. If the time allows, Hidefumi will show new research results that he has obtained on a tetrahedron using basic vectors.
Hidefumi Katsuura was born in Japan, and came to the United States after high school. He attended the College of Charleston, and after receiving his Ph.D. in Continuum Theory (a part of topology) from University of Delaware, he has been teaching Mathematics at San Jose State University. His research interest is currently in analysis and three-dimensional geometry. His hobby is to make thing by hands and by hand tools, mostly in cabinet making, carving, and turning woods.
